Trans & Queer Birth Class
In these classes you will have the opportunity to connect and build community with other LGBTQIA+ families.
Jess Permezel (she/they) is a queer midwife, childbirth educator and parent to two excellent school-age kids. They are committed to trauma-informed, accessible public healthcare and to promoting perinatal care that is holistic and culturally competent. They work clinically and as a research midwife.
Classes are tailored to your needs but can include:
-The opportunity to debrief the conception process in a safe space
-An overview of the system and how to navigate it
-Informed decision making
-The mechanics and dynamics of birth – physiology, psychology and the hormonal interplay
-Pain coping and pain relief options
-Options for chest and breastfeeding
-Life with a newborn
-Tips on surviving the early months with your identity and relationship/s intact
Classes will run in person in Brunswick
6 hrs, plus 1hr lunch break
